In the third quarter of 2023, the leading communication apps on the Android platform in Latin America demonstrated diverse performance metrics across downloads, revenue, and active users. Here’s a closer look at the top five apps based on data from Sensor Tower.

WhatsApp Messenger saw a notable increase in weekly downloads, peaking at around 2.4M in mid-July and maintaining a range between 1.7M and 2.2M throughout the quarter. The app's weekly active users steadily increased from approximately 272M at the end of June to nearly 277M by the end of September.

Telegram experienced consistent weekly revenue growth, starting at about $15.7K and reaching approximately $23.4K by late September. Its weekly downloads fluctuated between 871K and 1M, with active users showing minor variations, averaging around 24M.

Messenger maintained a relatively stable download rate, hovering around 800K to 900K per week, with a peak of over 916K in mid-September. Revenue for the app was modest, with a slight peak of $811 in early August. Active users showed a gradual decline from 64.2M at the end of June to about 61M by the end of September.

Snapchat exhibited a steady increase in weekly downloads, surpassing 981K in early September. Revenue remained stable, fluctuating between $640 and $939 throughout the quarter. Active users increased from approximately 66.9M at the end of June to around 70.4M by mid-September before a slight drop to 69.1M by the end of the month.

Lastly, WhatsApp Business showed consistent weekly downloads, ranging from 734K to 845K. The app’s revenue peaked at around $3.4K in early September, with active users hovering around 26M throughout the quarter.
